Week 1: Volume Up as the Election Campaign Kicks Off
April 3, 2025
The 2025 Federal Election campaign officially launched, with both major parties sharpening their messages on cost of living and energy. As the political noise ramps up, all eyes are on who can cut through and who’s losing ground. Cube’s Founder and MD, Anne-Marie Sparrow reflects on early momentum, media influence, and health’s place in the race:
So it’s definitely VOLUME UP for Albo as the Federal Election date was announced last week – and a clear indication Dutton needs to start maximising communication channels to regain share of voice! No surprise to see cost of living and energy front and centre – with energy charged up on socials.
I know this isn’t supposed to be a soap box – but I remain frustrated with the lack of impact news channels have on socials (clearly shown in these reports ) – with politicians and community influencers driving the commentary. (How can we change this?) Health is currently sitting lower on the agenda, with the major health announcements – firstly on cheaper medicines made a few weeks ago and a commitment to increasing bulk billing with GPs made in the Federal Budget.
Will health rise up the pecking order? And will Dutton gain greater traction? And where is a commitment to mental health? I’m looking forward to seeing how the first week of campaigning goes!
